European Union

They arrived from far flung parts of the European Union…. Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, the Netherlands and……Liverpool! Mild weather, a warm Birmingham welcome and a busy schedule greeted the first gathering of the Bridging the Gap partnership on October 17 and 18, 2013. Meeting at the prestigious Edgbaston Golf Club (where hosts Bridging to the Future have their offices) and staying in a hotel at Birmingham’s renowned Mail Box, the partnership quickly grew into a quick acting yet reflective team. Bridging to the Future’s Managing Director, Duncan Chamberlain commented ‘A striking feature was how swiftly these six highly professional, multinational organisations, gelled into an effective decision making team. Ideas were absorbed, high level discussions blossomed and decision making was decisive and clear.’

The partnership was delighted with the venue and excellent catering, and on Thursday evening was treated to a tour of the new city library, some city centres bars and finally The White Swan in Edgbaston for dinner.

The partners, many of whom had never visited Birmingham before, left contented and impressed both with the city and the project! Our next meeting is in Madrid in May…..following a period of hard work in developing the research and pilot programmes required in the project.
